I'm not really sure why I didn't like this movie. The acting was solid and the story flowed very well. There was just something about this movie that rubbed me the wrong way. I think that was the fact I figured out the twist ending very early in the movie. Overall this movie is probably worth a watch if nothing else then just to say you watched it, but I don't think it's going to stick with you very long after that.

A lot of people complained that the religious angle ruined the film, but I found it pretty good for the most part. It doesn't start to get too bad until the last third, but for the most part I'd say it's worth it to sit through once.

A scientist specializing in debunking religious "miracles" is called in when a sleepy bayou town seems to be undergoing a Biblical plague. The Omen meets The X-Files in this supernatural chiller based firmly in the old school (or should that be Old Testament...?) It fulfills the usual expectations of the genre including tragic back story as to how Ms Swank "lost her faith", a sidekick who is a believer, portentous dreams (or are they?) and religious imagery. But the fact is, it actually works quite well. It is VERY like one of the religious mythology based X-Files stories, but a good one. The imagery is very well done, particularly the river of blood and a very good scene portraying the swarm of locusts (which reminded me a lot of The Mummy) and it works as an off beat thriller. Of …

Not Much to Reap

I kind of liked it, I kind of didn't. Hilary Swank is the best thing in this movie. There were many moments when she made me believe in her character, regardless of what was happening in her character's world. The plagues are interesting to watch, most noteworthy is the river of blood. Other than that, the film showed amateur, bad indie horror film streotypes that made me roll my eyes. The story was involving at times but not as often as it should have been. With a little bit more focus, a little bit more suspenseful sequences, this movie could've been so much more. It did not reach commercial success because it lacked suspense, in my opinion. Still, Hilary Swank helped this film to not be a total wreck. It's not as bad as critics made it sound to be but it's definitely not a solid …
