The film stars Jason Statham as Jake Green, Ray Liotta as Dorothy Macha, and André Benjamin (a.k.a. "André 3000") as Avi. It centres on a revenge-seeking confidence trickster whose weapon is a universal formula that guarantees victory to its user, when applied to any game or confidence trick. This is the fourth feature film by Ritchie and his third to center on crime and professional criminals. With a very confuse plot i guess this movie deserves a second view.

Pretentious and Too Complicated

Andrew - wrote on 06/18/2012

Revolver is one of those movies that leaves a bad taste in your mouth. It has the chance to be great and starts off quite well, but eventually loses its way and fizzles at the end. It is a major disappointment for the viewer who was expecting so much more.

The major problem with Revolver is that the plot is simply too complicated. Guy Ritchie introduces so many motifs and themes that the story just gets lost in the shuffle. We don't know what's real or what's imagined, eventually we have to wonder what the purpose of this whole thing is. The shift from crime drama towards psychological thriller near the end is one of the major problems as Ritchie can't quite settle on a tone for the film.

Jason Statham is well cast as Jake Green, a shifty con man, as is Ray Liotta as the …

I enjoyed Lock, Stock but thought that it pandered a little too much to the cheap seats. Snatch was better, but still a little rough around the edges. Whereas this, I had been told, was appalling, and so have avoided it until now. But I really, REALLY wish I hadn't. Because I loved it. I can understand why many found the story a little confusing, the psycho-babble and surreal cut-ins showing the characters state of mind is a little jarring. But the whole thing is executed with such style and accomplishment; far more so than Ritchie's previous films. It has also been said that the direction is a little pretentious. Again no argument here. I can also understand why some may complain about it's lack of originality; the template for the plot is clearly The Usual Suspects, executed in the …

Ritchie, Statham, Liotta, it doesn't get better

This movie is sick! I thought it was absolutely amazing the first time I saw it. Now I may be a little biased since Guy Richie has made a ton of great movies and as long as he is not listening to or allowing Madonna to worm her way into his films things go very nicely. This movie is starring Jason Statham and Ray Liotta. It is also one of the first movies where you will see Jason Statham with hair. He plays a man that has recently gotten out of prison, and he is spending his time building himself up to get revenge on the men that put him there, specifically Liotta.
The movie is one of Ritchies more dark films, it doesn't have the comedy that Snatch has, and it flows along similar lines of Lock Stock but only in the respect that the camera movements jump around from one area to another …
