I saw this last night, and i myself would have to disagree with the positives listed here. I do admit it's nothing like Alien or Species but it fails to match up to those films in quality. Certainly a few interesting moments here + there, but i found the film to be somewhat dull - even the "shocks" + "twisted" moments.

I think I will check this movie out...it looks a bit interesting. Hey, at least it doesn't star Russell Brand, Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen, or Michael Cera. I just hope there are no annoying cameos by Puff Daddy or a Hilton or a Kardashian.

Despite the poor box office, this is a really good, dark film. It's twisted, and despite looking like Alien or Species or The Fly, is entirely different. It's in a class all on its own - cult status all the way.

Yeah. Should be OK. I wouldn't put any records on it but even Rotten Tomatoes likes it. Not saying they are right but at least someone likes it, unlike Prince of Persia!

Well, Species 1-6 were crap and about a virus from Mars. Splice is man-made "oops" ala Frankenstein, and will have better effects than Species. I'm intrigued and hoping it's a surprise like Pitch Black, which many critics wrote off as a Terminator/Alien copy.

The AvP films were definitely made for cash in purposes. Predators looks like it actually has some skill and craft behind it. It most likely won't be masterpiece, but it will probably be a very entertaining and compelling action film and it doesn't hurt that it has some quality actors involved. We'll have to wait and see.I'm into darker toned films so in my mind a darker tone does in fact = a better tone. :) Species was kind of silly, I think Splice will be much more grim and complex..

I'm not so convinced their just trying to make a buck or two with their Predators reboot. Yes - they ideally want to make money, but unlike the (unfortunate) AvP films there seems to be a real effort = they actually have name actors in the cast: Adrian Brody, Laurence Fishburne, Topher Grace. I certainly don't expect it to be as good as the original Predator, but from what i've seen it looks very solid.Back to the film @ hand though... I don't know that darker tone necessarily = a better tone. I actually liked Species. Albeit it's not a great film, but a very fun B-movie. Of course, to make another movie with the same tone would be a mistake; so to take some of those ideas/concepts in a darker direction could be interesting.

ZJW: let's hope it is a better tone. As for Predators - could be interesting though i think they are just trying to make a buck or two. I could be wrong, but let's not forget the original!Predator (1987)

I'm looking forward to Predators also. I honestly think Splice looks like the better film though.
