Friday earnings are in - Avengers scored $80.5 million - not quite as much as the $91.1 million Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 opened with, but considering how incredibly front-loaded that movie ended up being, it should break the record for biggest opening weekend by beating the overall $169.2 million and still has a chance at breaking the $200 million mark.

Each positive review I see just increases my anticipation as well. I still rate the original Iron Man as my favorite out of the bunch - though I enjoyed Captain America far more than I thought I was going to. Thor was decent, but I found both the humor and romance angle a bit awkward. Loki was still gold, and Tom Hiddleston looks like he brought back his A-game for The Avengers.P.S. - No spoilers, but make sure to stay after the credits for the extra scene!

I expect Avengers to shatter box office records. So far the response has been overwhelmingly positive, from fans and critics alike. I'll be seeing it on Sunday and post my review shortly after. My anticipation is building.

I am sure it will crush box office but I expect it to be worse than Thor which I liked quite a bit.

A couple reviews already up on this - so what are the expectations for this film? While some people are calling for this film to have the biggest opening ever - yes, even beating Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (which opened to $168.5 million) - the midnight show actually ran slightly behind The Hunger Games (which pegs The Avengers to have an opening right around $150 million).I know for sure I'm going to be watching this on Saturday - how high is the enthusiasm for this film compared to, say, The Dark Knight Rises or The Hobbit or any other film you're anticipating for this year (even if it's *shudder* Battleship).
