I'm surprised this didn't do better when it opened, but as a summer movie, I couldn't think of a more perfect example of over-the-top-fun - and let's face it, blowing up the White House just never gets old.

Can't wait to see this based on your observation. It's funny how many times the White House has been used on film these days (ex. G.I. Joe and Olympus Has Fallen). :-s

Action movies have been mostly a miss this year - but White House Down delivers in all the right ways: not just action but comedy and even heart. Considering the miserable early returns (not even Die Hard could make much of a splash), hopefully things will get set right. Roland Emmerich is usually completely over-the-top - and even though certain things push the believability envelope - overall, I was happy with the result.
