Yes it does. It has some psycho issues thrown in there.

This is the best movie ever made. The story is solid, acting and cast is great and it has something that most sci-fi films do not: it appeals to non sci-fi films. Gattaca (1997)One of the best movies ever made4/4 starsAchieving is believing is the message of this film. When everything is looking hopeless for Vincent Freeman (Ethan Hawke) he still has his dream. He is a degenerate, a "faith birth", he has a bad heart and bad vision. And in this futuristic world where your genes determine everything, he just doesn't have what it takes. He leaves his life behind to follow his dream of being an astronaut.
Vincent teams up with Jerome Morrow (Jude Law), an Olympic swimmer who is now paralyzed and needs money to maintain his way of life. The two of their dependencies create a great story of necessity vs. desire but eventually turns into a great friendship. Irene Cassini (Uma Thurman) is equally impressive with her role as a coworker to Vincent. Her charisma really balances the movies somewhat emotionless exterior.
The idea behind this movie is not so far-fetched and is what makes this movie so memorable. Hawke, Thurman and Law are equally good in making you believe that this fantasy world is right around the corner. Since the movie is more about substance rather than special effects. It was refreshing to see a Sci-fi movie that didn't try to awe the audience in a space-like world but instead awed the audience with what-ifs.
