I think you didn't get the Artist. I understand why you think that people only like it because it's a black-and-white silent movie. That's not true. The movie is an homage. Nothing more. It is SUPPOSED to be that way, to mimic, to interpret and to pay homage.

Stoker was quite abstract and haunting. It had outstanding cinematography but was missing a little in the way of depth and character development, which the film really needed.

I consider it a little clichéd to have the Godfather on your list or as your number one. I love the movie, but my taste varies.

I watched Full Metal Jacket. It's such an astonishing movie. It has a lot to say about war, and I loved the sniper confrontation scene.
