Some of the awkward moments you are talking about are understandable when you read the books and the Midnight Sun draft. The first time I saw it I thought the same thing, then I went in the second time and realized why some moments were that way.

My take on this is this movie would have been fantastic with an R rating... but it would have probably been a 60 million dollar mistake for them to do that.

It's more like Goldfinger: if you make US gold radioactive, you make a profit. They could've made a Bond film about raising oil prices (instead of water) but that wouldn't have been subliminal enough. The real enemy, after all, is the Shadowy World Government -- the QoS -- which harkens back to S.P.E.C.T.E.R.

So I watched the movie and like you I could find nothing wrong with it. I then bought the book series and read it all, because I did not feel that it was wrong. In the third book the dark angels or whatever kills God and throughout the second and third books God isn't exactly placed in a good …

Oh, that sucks for them.
Hopefully the next one will have movies more commonly seen on television. Especially since the winter is just around the corner, and the snow does not mix well with my wheelchair. lol
