Yeah, I liked Rock of Ages much more than I anticipated. The crowd I was with made it all the more enjoyable.

Great review, as always, but I'm curious as to how you felt about the more 'tense' scenes. The biggest example being the one involving Shaw (I think you know which scene I'm talking about). I, for one, can't remember having felt that kind of gripping tension in a long time. I was literally wincing in pain.

Seems a great number of the Criterions on my list are out of print, but I've been able to find most of them on Amazon. Not for cheap. Once the biannual sale at Barnes & Noble starts, I'll be adding a great amount to my collection.

I completely agree. Both films perfectly blend the two genres while executing both areas very well. That's great that you were able to go in spoiler free (I somehow pulled that off as well) because this is a film that is just begging to be spoiled. Films this good (especially in this genre) don’t come along often enough, so getting the absolute most out of it is essential. Also, Zombie Redneck Torture Family would definitely be a great band name! What kind of music are we talking… …

I haven't even looked at the "influential" movies list in years. But, yes Double Indemnity is well worth it. I have it at #30 on my Top Movie List. As for The Avengers, it will pass it this weekend, I'm assuming, it's somewhere between numbers 110 and 105. I though about making it a top 200 list, but decided against it. If you think that's a good idea though, I will expand it. I've only found box office numbers for 200 so I couldn't expand it any more.

Thanks! I've seen a couple of them without data (mostly TV movies or non-English production), but wasn't sure what to do with them - is there any way to fill them in somehow without troubling you? Or, should I add some information in the request, so to make it easier for you?

Glad you enjoyed Dial M for Murder. :-) Truly underrated and less popular compared to the directors films.

Great review. I had most of the same feelings, though I don't share your slight distaste for the beginning portion of the film. If only more movies of this genre were just as entertaining and enjoyable. Also, what did you think of the 'final' scene after the closing credits? I thought it was hilarious. You don't see quiet moments like that in a huge action flick.
