Stanley Kubrick is pure genius - I would have to give the edge to Dr. Strangelove - brilliant satire that makes you laugh, but also makes you think. But I would say Clockwork Orange is my second favorite - if I had to order:
Dr. Strangelove
A Clockwork Orange
Full Metal Jacket
The Shining
2001: A Space Odyssey
Spartacus
Lolita
Eyes Wide Shut
I have yet to watch Barry Lyndon or any of his earlier work, including Paths of Glory. Also, I thought A.I. was pretty good - you could see …

I think you may be asking a very difficult question. I think Christopher Nolan is a better filmmaker on the filmmaker side of the spectrum, while Paul Thomas Anderson is a much better writer of human condition. "Magnolia" and "Boogie Nights" were so well-written with the greatest assortment of characters I've seen on the screen, that its hard to fathom that many people could be in a writer's head. However, Nolan certainly holds a writing honor to his credit through his intricate and …

I enjoyed the first Hatchet more. It was funny and the death scenes were so over the top but that's what made it entertaining. I found it for $4 :) I say buy it,

When A Stranger Calls is not really on my top movie list, I have to make another list named "Horrible Remakes", and I'll put that movie under that list.

"True Romance" would have been better, I feel, if Tarantino had directed it himself. However, "Natural Born Killers" is one of my favorite movies. As a director, Oliver Stone is mightier than his pen of writing (most of his movies seem over-researched). Though, I must alight that "Natural Born Killers" was a savvy introduction to Stone, though not Tarantino's best script. His best, I still hold, is that of "Inglourious Basterds," which exalted a more mature stylization of writing and even …

My personal favorite is actually "Inglorious Basterds." I've never seen such sharp and taciturn writing from him before. "Pulp Fiction" is the most accessible and "Resevoir Dogs" is by far his grittiest and funniest. "True Romance" is one of those movies you can pop in every now and again, but never a multiple-viewer. What about you?
