Sandler is back!

Funny people is a definite change of pace compared to Apatow's past 2 films. Many people will tell you they are disappointed and many people will tell you it was not as funny as it should have been. Well, it is not as funny as his other movies, but that is not a bad thing.
Sandler proves that he is still one of the funniest men in the world and it is a sure disappointment to see that the last 5 movies he has done (save Punch Drunk Love) have all been pretty bad and directed at children (or teen comedy). He is the FUNNIEST guy I have ever seen. In this movie, he proves it. He shows us yet again that not only can he be silly funny, but he can act, and act really well. Rogen on the other hand, is a big let down, for me. He wasn't that funny nor did he do that good of job acting. The rest of the cast is very good including a surprise from Eric Bana. Nice work.
The reason why I think this movie is pretty dang good is because of the adult nature of it. Yeah, it is a comedy but it is also a drama. It is Apatow's most adult work and it doesn't rely on comedy to get it through to the end. I would put this as his worst film, but still, it is a 3.5 star movie.
If you want to see a serious comedy with Sandler reborn (again) then see this movie. If you want to see a gross out comedy that makes you roll on the ground laughing, then skip it (The Hangover is funnier).
