[update] I saw this again on Blu-ray on a big screen. Still as good as the first time I saw it, maybe even better. A great movie. Much like A.I. I am saddened by some of the negative reviews.
I am not a huge fan of the original but the world that was created seemed like something only George Lucas could create. Not true. Tron: Legacy is so much better than the original in almost every way (ok, maybe it is not nearly as creepy and cult like). I commend Disney for pulling it off. They took another chance with this one and succeeded.
The music was incredible, the scenery was amazing, and the acting was superb. The story lacked any originality, but who cares! Despite the simplistic story, I felt the movie itself was very complex and full of detail.
The SFX were done very well. Some how they carried over all the cool things from the first one and really brought this one to life. I wouldn't say that the 3D made it any better though. It was a nice touch and kind of fun to watch for a bit. After a short time, you forget its there.
True sci-fi fans should love this movie. The only down side (besides the week story) was the fact that many of the really cool scenes happened at the beginning of the movie rather than the end. Still, my 2nd favorite movie of 2010 so far.
