The Guy is Crazy

This is a very solid movie. It is not a great movie, but the fact that this is a true story makes it even better. Emile Hirsch reminds me a lot of Leo DiCaprio - he looks like him, acts like him, and is similar in age. Though I think Leo is a better actor, keep your eye on this guy.
My only complaint about the movie is that it was very slow and almost too exaggerated at the beginning. To be honest with you, it reminded me of Forrest Gump as far as his interaction with people (though he is an extremely bright guy). He is almost a Christ like figure that everyone likes and takes advice from.
The guy is definitely crazy and in the beginning I didn't feel sorry for him. But by the end of the film, I actually felt for the poor guy and kind of understood what he was trying to do. three is some good Cinematography through out but to be honest, nothing special - nothing really was. The acting was solid and the direction was OK. But, I truly think that if a more artistic director would have been at the helm, this film could have really made an impact.
I am debating on whether or not I should put this on my top ten list for best movies of 2007. Only time will tell - but I don't think I want to see this film again and that should say something about the lasting power of it.
