F-Zero on Speed

[I have never seen the Anime and I know little about Speed Racer other than the theme song - nor do I like Anime]
I felt this movie was pretty damn good. Yes, there were a few cheesy kid moments and a bit too much talking at times, but overall I felt the pacing, cinematography and dialog were damn good. The W brothers have surprised me with the decent dialog and solid acting (after Matrix Revolutions, though I liked it, I was was a little skeptic). What makes this movie so good is the beautiful colors, innovaitve cinematography, and lead charcter Emile Hirsch.
Hirsch is going to be a fantastic actor and he shows some dedication to the job in this one. To be honest, he made me feel like I was playing the latest F-Zero game with my friends on the newest Nintendo system. The race scenes are outstanding and full of action and special effects. I really enjoyed the ride that this put me on.
My only problem was the fact that the story was geared towards kids a little too much. I felt that if they would have made it towards adults it would have been an even better film. Still, I think you could compare it to the tranformers as far as quality and entertainment value. Is it predictable, yes. Is it lame at times, yes. Despite the short comings, it was a great movie to be entertained by. One of the best movies of 2008 so far.
