Gantz is buildt upon a typical horror tragedy manga. Given this is a feature movie and it is a japanese movie, all the sex references and scenes have been left out, but the movie follow the manga most of the time. The script is intelligent and very different from what we are used to, and Gantz allready have a massive fan base in Japan and in communities where manga movies are popular.

The story is well written, and is about a young teenage boy that is on his way to a job interview. He is standing on the subway platform when he recognizes his childhood friend that he haven't seen in many years. A drunk pass out and fall down on the subway track, and all the people on the platform just watch him as the subway train get closer to the station. After a while his childhood friend jumps down and try to help the bum, calling for help nobody answers. Our young protagonist finally jump down to help his friend get the passed out man off the track. They manage to get the man off the track, but then the subway train arrives. As the train hit them they suddenly appear in a room full of strangers and a strange black cube. Gantz- the cube, open and reveal an arsenal and a suitcase with each of the strangers names on them, and instruct them to kill the onion-alien.

Mind you this might not be for all. The story is very dark and very japanese. The way people are in this movie might be very confusing and bizzare if you have no knowlegde of japanese culture. It's a cold story and a brutal story both psysically and psycologically. I watched the manga some years back, and saw it again after I watched this movie and the movie managed to capture the same disturbing enviornment as the manga did. I enjoyed watching this movie alot.
