Very little could save this movie

I was incredibly disappointed in this movie. The trailers were cut together in a way that really gave me hope. The marketing of the movie on billboards and bus stop posters were pure genius, in my opinion. I really had high hopes for this movie.
Walking out of the theatre I felt empty...so empty I can't even think of a good comparison.
Some will want to comment to me (oh he must have a crush on Brian Singer)....no I do not....I wasn't too much of a fan of Superman Returns; but I do think that he would have done The Last Stand a heck of a lot more justice than Ratner did. And personal feelings aside about Ratner (ewww) this movie was a horrible way to close an "implied trilogy".
The story lacked...well good story. The idea of the mutant cure good. Execution...horrible. It wasted a lot of talent of little to no screen time for great actors and mutants with great abilities.
Why even bother introducing Angel in this movie? There was NO reason for him to be in there at all. And what a waste for Ben Foster. He has a little background story at the beginning making you think he's going to play a very intricate part in the plot....nope. He goes in as a first subject for the "cure" and flys out the window. Then, shows up at the mansion "I need a place to stay." And then we don't see him again until he flys by yet again to save his dad. To avoid swearing on here...WTF!!
Way too much action to in this movie and not enough work on the story and plot. I hate comparing movies, but the previous two films had great story and action. Everything tied together and you felt like you had a full package movie. It was a waste of a great story line. The Dark Phoenix was done very well I think but I had expected more in regards to the love triangle between Jean, Scott and Logan. *Spoiler* I understand that because of scheduling conflicts they really had no choice but to 'kill' Cyclops because he was attached to the new Superman.
All in all, this was a horrible shot to the comic book movie franchise.
Most redeeming quality in the film: Iceman icing up in his battle with Pyro.
