Visually stunning thrill ride

While "Gravity" is a visually stunning experience and a very good movie, it is certainly not the life altering experience promised by all the gushing movie critics. Instead, it is like boarding an outer space simulator ride for 1.5 hours. You absolutely must see this movie at least in 3D. I saw it in IMAX 3D and it was some of the most immersive 3D I have ever seen. I would think the movie will lose a lot of impact in 2D, and even more impact if you wait and watch the movie at home. In other words, this is the kind of movie that screams to be seen on the biggest movie screen available. That said, the story is little more then a reason to string several admittedly stunning tension filled set pieces together. Technically, the movie is brilliant on all levels. As to the acting, I really liked George Clooney's performance. While I did not dislike Sandra Bullock's performance, she plays an emotionally distant and not all that likeable person, so it is hard to completely warm up to her character. These are minor complaints, however, as the movie rocks as a pure thrill ride.
