A couple lose their young daughter in a car accident and become obsessed with the legend of a mythical newspaper that reports events before they have happened. Premonition is very much the epitome of its genre; it follows the formula to the letter and is essentially a mash up of The Grudge and The Butterfly Effect. Despite its rather generic feel, the direction is suitably atmospheric and there are some nice moments of psychological horror for the final act when the bereaved father realises the true implications of his second sight and the twist laden finale is suitably mind bending. Premonition is not the best J-Horror you will ever see but it's also far from the worst; a solid entry in a rather overpopulated canon.
