You Again (2010)

How do you come to terms with the past when it deals with the bully of your high school nightmares engaged to your loving brother?
That is the plot of “You Again" which revolves around an acne-riddled high school senior with glasses and braces Marni (Kristin Bell), who was taunted by hot-shot Joanna (Odette Yustman) in high school. Joannna is now marrying Marni's brother, which causes tension between the two but Marni is no longer a push over. She is now a successful executive and moving up the corporate ladder and very much capable of handling Joanna who claims she doesn't remember her and has seemingly tricked the family into loving her. Not convinced of her change of heart, Marni sets out to expose her as a shallow and vindictive gold-digger.
Apparently, high school rivalries are generational, and her mom Gail Olsen (Jamie Lee Curtis) and Joanna's Aunt Ramona( Sigourney Weaver) also had issues at the same small town high school, during their adolescence as well as her Grandma Betty White and Chloris Leachman.
~Spoiler~
I wanted to like this movie, I really did. The idea that each generation repeats the challenges of the previous is worth exploring but I was really very disappointed with how the Marnie’s family reacted when finally confronted with how bad things were at school for her. But two wrongs does not make right and by trying to show Joanna how mean she was to her, Marni goes way overboard and ends up becoming worse than Joanna ever was.
