A chick movie that guys will love!

Katherine Heigl plays Abby, an uptight "control freak" TV producer whose magazine programme is going down the tubes until, against her wishes, the crass chauvinistic Mike (Gerard Butler) is brought on board with his segment “The Ugly Truth” in which he examines relationships in a crude, sensationalist way. Needless to say Abby isn't exactly happy. Neurotic and controlling she hasn't been on an exciting date for eleven months so Mike makes her a deal--he will help her nab the doctor of her dreams who moved in next door in exchange for her approval or quit. She does not like Mike’s outspokenness but much to Abby’s surprise, the ratings skyrocket so she reluctantly agrees to let him help her.
Of course the typical romantic comedy formula takes over and Abby and Mike eventually start falling for each other. The restaurant scene where Abby has the vibrating panties remotely controlled by an unsuspecting kid at another table is amusing (showing Heigl's chops) although it misses the impact of Meg Ryan's fake orgasmic scream in “When Harry Met Sally”. A pretty entertaining adult comedy that is almost as good as The Hangover!
