I Am Number Four is a Sci-Fi, Action film which centers around one boy from a far off planet called Lorien. Long ago, the bad guys of this film known as Mogadorians invaded the planet. Nine children with special powers managed to escape with their protectors to Earth. Now the Mogadorians are hunting down and killing these grown-up children in order.
The film opens, and we see Number Three being killed by the Mogadorians. Alex Pettyfer plays Number Four, who is living a sun kissed life in the Florida Keys until an underwater vision of a Mogadorian sends him fleeing in search of a new home with his guardian Henri (Timothy Olyphant).
They move to Paradise, Ohio, the irony being that this town is nothing like paradise. Number 4 changes his earth name to John Smith, dyes his hair blond and goes to the local school as though he is just any other kid. He tries to blend in at his new school but his special powers and quick temper prevent him from doing that.
While trying to stay under the radar a teen love affair starts between him and a girl named Sarah (Dianna Agron). Sarah has become a loner in the school because of nasty rumors created by her ex-boyfriend and captain of the football team, Mark (Jake Abel). John's only other friend is Mark's favorite harassment target, Sam (Callan McAuliffe). In other words, typical high school drama ensues, but how long will Mark be John's biggest problem? He also has to contend with the Mogadorians who are still in hot pursuit, and he is also being tracked by a tenacious young blond girl on a motor bike who we later find out is Number 6.
Timothy Olyphant was great and I would have loved to have seen more of him taking on the bad guys and more action from Number 6 who was a total bad ass.
Lots of action and spectacular special effects, I really hope they continue the story!
