In Little Black Book Brittany Murphy plays an associate producer of Kippie Kann's (Kathy Bates) popular talk show who is determined to learn the truth about her secretive boyfriend, Derek (Ron Livingston) who won't discuss his ex-girlfriends (Really, what man would?).

She finally gets that chance when he inadvertently leaves his palm pilot home and she finds *gasp* provocative photos of not one but three exes – Lulu, the hot sexy French model, sweet restaurateur Joyce (Julianne Nicholson) and smart intelligent Rachel (Rashida Jones) the gynecologist. Helped by her feisty coworker Barb (Holly Hunter), she gets the names of his ex-lovers and interviews them, supposedly for an upcoming show and discovers Derek is still in contact with them all. She gets more than she bargained for when she meets Joyce, Derek's most recent ex-girlfriend (Julianne Nicholson) whom Stacy genuinely likes and bonds with.
It’s sad to see what a lack of trust and communication can do to any relationship. Not for everyone but it has a nice twist and if you like Carly Simon then you’re in luck since you can hear her music throughout the film and she has a cameo towards the end.
