An Ivy League philosophy professor Bill Kincaid (Edward Norton) finds out that his twin brother Brady was murdered and returns to his home town of Oklahoma to arrange his funeral but once he gets there he discovers that Brady faked his death to lure Bill to return home. The question is WHY? Apparently ex-con Brady is now managing a small-scale pot farm and planning a scheme against a local drug lord (Richard Dreyfuss) and wants to use his twin as an alibi while he takes care of business.
Confrontations occur, both negative and positive: as Bill meets school teacher/poet Janet (Keri Russell) and falls in love and reconciles with his mom Daisy (Susan Sarandon) who resides at a retirement home, though she is still young. Meanwhile Brady and his sidekick do something totally out of character when confronting the drug lord.
"Leaves of Grass" is a blend between drama and comedy and Norton's performance is great as he succeeds in portraying two totally different characters but if you really want to watch a hilarious pot smoking movie then check out "Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle."
