Bleak and Gritty!

Mia (Katie Jarvis) is a volatile fifteen year old girl; rude and obnoxious as any teenage girl can be, who lives with her foul mouthed younger sister and their party hardy bleached blonde mother in a tough district of London, England.
Mia dreams of being a dancer but spends most of her time fighting with her Mom or drinking beer after being kicked out of school. Her life seemingly takes a turn for the better when Mom brings home a new boyfriend, the enigmatic Connor (Michael Fassbender) who is ruggedly good looking. He's also very nice to the girls, something they're not used to. From the minute he comes downstairs, with his very buffed bare torso to make tea, it’s obvious Mia is interested. He's appears to be intelligent and fairly well mannered and polite with her. Unlike the character played by Peter Sarsgaard in An Education, he doesn't seem a charmer, only a decent fellow who answers Mia's feistiness with kindness. Mia is very drawn to this new man who treats her like an adult and pays attention to her. But there is a thin line between friendship and sexual attraction.
This movie draws you from the moment it starts to the bittersweet ending. Fish Tank is quite engaging and extremely realistic but you won't feel uplifted when it's over.
