Liam, What were you thinking?

A doctor called David Morrow played by Liam Neeson is arranging a study about the process of fear under the guise of sleep disorder sessions. He takes his subjects Eleanor (Lili Taylor), Theo (Zeta-Jones) and Luke (Owen Wilson) to a creepy house to frighten them but finds that the house is genuinely haunted. All in all an entertaining film that could have been even scarier, if they had put some more weight on the psychological thrills.
The special effects were one of the redeeming parts of the movie as the house was brought to life like nothing else along with the acting of Lili Taylor. The buildup of the story was done nicely but it became absurd as we begin to find out how Eleanor is connected to the House. Sultry Catherine Zeta-Jones is beautiful as always but I was expecting a lot more from Liam Neeson who was just flat and uninspired here. Fantastic setting though, the house was quite amazing.
