A big city cad Cuba Gooding Jr. returns to his Southern hometown upon the death of his aunt and must fulfill the requirements of her will in order to reap his inheritance. Met with numerous challenges, he assembles a rag-tag bunch of underdeveloped misfits and attempt to take the group to a big gospel competition for a big prize of $150,000.
'The Fighting Temptations has a certain charm to it be it Cuba's character of a young man being won over by the good ole spirit of the home community and learning lessons about himself despite initially looking down on their small town ways. The outcome was predictable but so what….I certainly had a fun time watching this one and I am still humming a few bars of the song “You Give Me Fever” in my mind. Also starring Steve Harvey as the boozy radio DJ boozy who sees and tells all and Beyoncé Knowles as a beautiful nightclub singer with the voice of an angel and her rendition of "Fever" was very nice.
If you appreciate Gospel; Traditional, Modern Urban, R&B-related and, yes, Christian Rap music, you will enjoy this film.
