Bond humanised! No more vodka martinis, no gadgets

Pursuing a stolen hard-drive which contains a list of all NATO secret agents currently undercover in terrorist organizations in exotic Istanbul, James Bond (Daniel Craig) is accidentally shot by fellow MI6 agent Eve (Naomie Harris) and is publicly pronounced dead. Back in London, M is in the hot seat for her order to “Take the shot” and is politely asked to retire by the Intelligence Committee chairman, Gareth Mallory (Ralph Fiennes).
But when an explosion at MI6 kills a number of agents, M is forced to confront her past and Bond returns to England, 6 months later, ready for duty. One wonders what Bond did in that half-year's time (besides shagging attractive locals and drowning himself in booze) when he fails his physical evaluation and his marksmanship test.
Armed with only a gun; of course, a Walther PPK and radio, he sets off once again for the stolen hard-drive but Bond's foe, the bleached blond menacing and psychotic Silva with astonishing hacking skills (Javier Bardem), is just as determined to foil him and seems to be doing everything in his power to bring MI6 to its knees. Judi Dench appears again as the character of M, the No-Nonsense, ruthless, scheming, domineering boss proving that M is head of MI6 for a reason and we've got a young arrogant Q who quips "What did you expect, an exploding pen?"
I enjoyed listening to Adele sing the theme song. Great Performances by the athletic Daniel Craig (Bond is supposed to be invincible so I am going to try to forget I saw him drowning his sorrows with a Heineken), tough as nails Judi Dench and Xavier Bardem is what drives the movie and James Bond Fans would love that the vintage Aston Martin with its machine gun-toting headlights is back.
Skyfall starts off fresh and thrilling with a really impressive chase scene throughout Istanbul but dammit….where are the cool gadgets? Bond Movies are not the same without gadgets and all we have here is a measly radio??? Another thing that bothered me, although the Bond girls are extremely beautiful and here there were two as always…it is rather annoying that Bond's love interest is killed off within minutes. In conclusion what happened to the drive? The whole point at the start was the retrieve the drive, so where is it? I guess I blinked and missed that part.
