Calvin Candie: Your boss looks a little green around the gills.
Django: He just ain't used to seein' a man ripped apart by dogs is all.
Calvin Candie: But you are used to it?
Django: I'm just a little more used to Americans than he is.
Quentin Tarantino finally unleashes his "southern" by paying great homage to spaghetti westerns of yesterday. Django is littered with gorgeous shots and dialogues as usual in every film of Tarantino were outrageous and gore was at its peak with a wonderful soundtrack from Ennio Morricone, John Legend and James Brown/2Pac duet.
Jamie Foxx is spectacular as the titular hero and we watch his transition, from enslaved helpless negro to a shrewd and sharp shooting hero determined to buy his wife back from a ruthless and sadistic man; Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), owner of the slave plantation known as Candieland where she is held.
Before that takes place Christoph Waltz (who plays Dr. King Schulz, a German dentist turned bounty hunter) and Foxx team up as bounty hunters by killing a few people and getting paid while doing. Waltz makes a deal with Foxx that if he helps him with the bounties he will assist with the purchase of his wife. (Look out for the short lived character of Big Daddy played by Don Johnson.)
I never watched a film of Christoph Waltz that I didn’t like and I must say he steals the show in the way he speaks and the way he delivers; every moment was outstanding so if you enjoyed his menacing performance in "Inglorious Basterds", then you wouldn’t be disappointed with him in Django Unchained.
DiCaprio gives a career best as the villainous Calvin Candie depicting the brutal character of a cruel plantation owner. Samuel L. Jackson is fantastic as Candie’s head of house, the despicable Stephen, a racist black servant. As with all his films Tarantino makes a guest appearance in the movie towards the end.
This is a must see adventure western with plenty of blood and guts that you've got to expect with all Tarantino films….Bloody well done! Definitely worth the watch if you don't mind some violence and the frequent use of the word "N" word. It's got superb acting, very edgy tongue in cheek humor and its......ultra violent; what’s not to like, I absolutely loved it….and can’t wait to watch it again with my hubbie.

Are my eyes deceiving me? A 4 star rating! just kidding. Don't you think DiCaprio was snubbed (again) by the Academy Awards. Tarantino is relying a lot from Waltz (could be next best tandem such as Scorsese/DeNiro). Great review! Can't wait for the DVD to be released. Vintage Tarantino at its finest.

Despite the blood and brutal subject matter probably in my top three movies for the most fun I've had at the theater all year. And the music - no one can mold a soundtrack like Tarantino. I'm hoping Waltz walks away with the Supporting Actor Oscar once again - he deserves it (though Samuel L. Jackson was just as good, I think).
