After the opening scene, I considered leaving the theater--there is a fine line between "endearingly quirky" and "caustically precious," and the whole "doodle that can't be undid" bit transgressed that boundary with reckless abandon. However, I'm glad I stayed. Overall it is an enjoyable trifle, with enough funny moments to make it worthwhile. I enjoyed Michael Cera (as always), and I was shocked by how good Jennifer Garner was--I had expected her to be the weak link that the rest of the cast had to buoy, and instead she gave the finest performance in the film. Drastically overrated to be sure, and not for those with a low tolerance for mannered hipster idiosyncrasy, but worth at least a passing gander.
