A journey worth taking

The detailed account of one man's torturous journey from poverty in Vietnam to America to seek his unseen G.I. father who abandoned him at birth; a harrowing odyssey handled with humanity that is both life-affirming and uncompromising. The acting is all strong, particularly Nolte and Ling and one wishes the director let important moments linger longer as a lot of it feels rushed. Final Grade: B
