Review: The Skin I Live In

This is a sick one. Pedro Almodovar's The Skin I Live In is a unique, oddly compelling movie. It's a revenge film that takes revenge to a different level. A strange level. Antonio Banderas and the rest of the cast all do fantastic jobs portraying each of their characters, and Almodovar serves them well with a good script and a stylistic direction. The film didn't quite grab me emotionally, but it was fun to watch a movie that dives deep into dark and twisted grounds. It's undeniably messed up, it's very dark, it occasionally gets under your skin (see what I did, there?), and it's for sure one of the better films of 2011. It's terrifically entertaining, and it's sticking with me.
