Let's cut to the chase - If it wasn't for Jim Carrey, I would have disliked The Incredible Burt Wonderstone much, much, much more. This is a fairly good premise, and with the actors involved it could have been, and should have been a hilariously fun movie. Instead, director Don Scardino doesn't give the movie any spark or appeal. It felt so lazy and forced and at times uneven. This may be a weird thing to say, but I thought that Steve Carell was a miscast. His character, Burt Wonderstone, is a snobby, selfish, and mean-spirited person, and I felt that wasn't a good fit for Steve Carell. He felt uncomfortable in the part, unable to find the correct comedic tone his character needed. Steve Buscemi, shamefully, is horribly underused. He's a terrific talent, and the tedious script never gave him a chance to express that. Olivia Wilde is a damn good sight, but her character doesn't really add much to the film. Jim Carrey, however, is hilarious as the Chris Angel-type illusionist, Steve Grey. Here he doesn't show his manic side (think of Dumb and Dumber and The Mask) but instead plays the role very smoothly and cool, really nicely getting into his character. It's a great, hysterical performance that'll bring you back to the good old days of Carrey.

Overall, the film is an unfortunate disappointment. I was looking forward to it, but while watching it found myself extremely bored during the long stretches without Jim Carrey.
