Directed by Clint eastwood This is based on the real life of Chris kyle who was a navy seal and held the record for most amount of kills in the recent wars iraq. killing apparently over 200 people as a sniper.
Bradley cooper plays Chris kyle and does a fine job. very different to his other roles. and only adds to his list of great acting roles he has done in recent years.
The movie starts with chris kyle as a cowboy who see's the 9/11 twin towers falling on the news and enlists and becomes a navy seal. he meets a pretty girl gets married and gets sent to iraq. the film then follows him on his various tours of iraq and a little of his relationship with his wife when he returns each time.
There's a lot of tension in this film its very well made and acted. and keeps you interested throughout.
There is also a big patriotic element to the film especially the closing scenes. while no mention is really made on whether the iraq war was just or not it doesn't go deep into any of that. it just merely paints chris kyle as a hero who fought for america.
There is a lot of debate over this film with some calling it not accurate and some who say he was just a cold blooded killer with no remorse only that he wished he could of killed more.
either way. he had a job to do and done it whether all those kills were right or not. who knows ! all we can do is watch the movie ,
overall its a very good film but far to patriotic.and whitewashes a lot of things that really should be addressed if your going to do a film like this.
does it deserve to be oscar nominated yeah i guess so though there is better films. but its strange clint wasn't nominated for director as really thats the strengh of the film.
