I just wrote about the original Asian version of "One Missed Call" and said that for the first time I liked the American remake better. That is not to say that it's a great movie; I just thought it was slightly more entertaining.
For one thing, the story actually took place in the United States; it was not just the same location with a teen star from the CW visiting Japan. That seemed to make it easier to follow.
They're all just a variation of "The Ring", anyway. But for some reason, this one was a little more compelling than most.
