Don't forget to see Sarah Marshall!

What a pleasant suprise!
I love it when I go to a movie that I didn't particularly want to see, then it turns out to be really good. Or better yet, when I didn't want to see it because something about it didn't interest me (the story, the cast, etc.) and not only did it turn out to be really good, but it also slapped my expectations in their face.
Nearly a week later, I cannot tell you why I thought "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" was so good. However, I can tell you that it was consistently funny from start to finish. (My film-going experience has taught me that most comedies cannot sustain the laughs and, more times than not, completely disappoint with their endings.)
By far, this is the best movie from the Judd Apatow school of frank, adult-oriented, epic-length comedy. I'm going to credit the main character for its success. Not at first, but sometime during the movie, I began to really care about him and want, more than I can remember in any movie of the kind, his happiness at the end.
"Forgetting Sarah Marshall" deftly straddles the line between every other romantic comedy and one that is truly original. It never falls over to either side, so while it seems familiar, it also seems fresh.
Skin Rating = 4 (out of 4). This is a tough one. While there IS full-frontal male nudity, it is of Jason Segel. That's a wash. However, many shirtless shots of hilarious comic villain Russell Brand's yummy chest cause me issue a top rating.
