After watching the History Channel the other night and seeing one of their new shows called Canadian Restoration where a customer bought a Lincoln Mark III and literally wanted the guys in the shop to transform it into the killer car in 'The Car' I immediatly threw on the movie as i havent seen it since my teens that i can remember. My 12 year old son sighed when i put it on thinking i was forcing him to watch yet another cheesy 70's film. Oh Contraire my son this is not your average 70's movie, he liked the 80's film Christine he would like this. He actually enjoyed it as much as i did seeing it when i was a kid!
James Brolin is the sheriff of a small western town..you know the small towns that are quiet and nothing much happens and that's the way they like it or so they say? All is quiet until the town gets a visitor in the form of a Lincoln Mark III who seems to like running down the small towns people. It's not long before our beloved sheriff is involved in a cat and mouse game with the killer car. The sheriff and his men all believe some psycho is driving the car although quickly change their mind when one of the town's citizens witnesses that the car seems to be driverless.
This information is very hard to digest but its not long before they realize themselves that this car is possessed!! I know it sounds cheesy as hell but believe me its quiet the cool little thriller that actually was filmed quite well considering the time frame it was made.
