Ok, when i had heard the ratings whilst this film was still fresh in the theatres on how well it was doing, it only hyped me all the more to get my butt in gear and go see it. Let's put it this way their are a few films after seeing them i was a little dissapointed although i thought deserved second chances, and i think this belongs on that same list as i was dissapointed and bored although i think a second look is in order. The problems here start i think primarily with myself as when i originally saw this movie it was part of a quadruple bill at the local drive in theatre as to which it was the third film to be shown that started no earlier then 3am, needless to say by that time fatigue had set in majorally. Number 2 the screen it was shown upon was pretty dark to begin with and Super 8 has a lot of night time scenes which made it hard to see at times. #3 I was extremly disspointed in the alien in the film as i didnt get to see it much.
Other posters/reviewers have mentioned that one of the highlights of this sci-fi were that it cast a bunch of great unknowns which i must say they are right as it added to the reality of the film only in times in my own opinion it came across much like The Goonies did in the 80's. Also i never mentioned that the film that showed right before this was Transformers 3 (that i loved) so of coarse following a blockbuster action packed CGI film like that i found Super 8 somewhat lackluster.
So for the time being up until i once again sit down to re-view this film, which will be in the comfort of own man cave, i am giving it 1-1/2 stars. This might change in the near future it may not!
