The Life Before Her Eyes

Great Concept & Talented Director, Dissapoints

After seeing Perelman's other well known film, The House of Sand and Fog, I was excited to see what he would do with this film. The concept of doing a school shooting for a movie is not a new concept and has been tackled very expressively by films such as Elephant. The reason this film stand out in particular though is that it is told from the prospective of a woman that has lived through it looking back and surrounds one questions "Which of the two best friends will the murderer kill?" The acting was stilted at times and not all of it was shot beautifully (although most of it was). Also the ending has a major twist built in; however, the reveal was a bit muddy leaving my confused at first. This movie is worth seeing once but reached no where near as good of a film as his first, The House of Sand and Fog.
