Yes, the car chase is a masterpiece, in fact, Frank P. Keller won the Oscar for editing, mainly because of that car chase, but the rest of the film is great as well. Steve McQueen is of course one of our great actors who was lost too soon. But, the real gem of the film is the story. I think you have to watch this film probably twice to really get what's going on. It just keeps you guessing until the very end.
And, yes, that car chase is great. Bullitt is an entertaining and complex film that will leave you guessing until the end.
