The perfect HBO or cable movie.

What is up with John Travolta playing creepy, seedy criminals nowadays? Hmm. You'd wish he was good at it.
The Taking of Pelham 123 (cool title) is a remake directed by the late Tony Scott.
Now, I don't want to say anything heavy about Tony Scott, considering the tragic thing that he decided to do, but I will judge strictly his directorial style.
Let's start with the acting. Denzel and Vincent Vega. They have some nice chemistry, they weren't exactly Alan Rickman and Bruce Willis Die Hard level chemistry, but you could definitely tell they were going for some interaction between the two leads.
Of course, Denzel is great as always. You can't go wrong with him.
John Travolta is so over the top and embarrassing in this flick. He wasn't intended for comedic relief, but his performance is comparable to some half-a*s Nicolas Cage action movie performance.
The direction is all over the place. It's very flashy and Tony Scott seemed to make it look like a lot was happening, when a lot actually wasn't. Lots of zooms and moving around.
The ending was so cheap. I won't spoil it for you if you really care about what happens, but the way this ending left us was completely clichéd and easy.
It's the same story Hollywood tells over and over again. Try to guess how this film ends if you haven't seen it. I bet you'll guess correctly.
It's just such a 'meh' movie. It's something you can watch on HBO at midnight and you won't remember it when you wake up the next morning.
