The Big Lebowski

The dude abides.

The Big Lebowski is one of my favorite comedy films of all time, because it has such awkward situational humor. Rarely does it get physical or serious. It's just as simple as Walter telling Donnie to shut up.
The comedic acting is fantastic, from all three leads Dude, Walter and Donnie (I call them the Good, the Bad and the Ugly).
Their characters are straight-up losers, with great personalities. There are so many little hidden comedic messages and goofs, such as the Dude's addiction to White Russians, Walter's hilarious anger outbursts and Donnie's overlooked obvious talent for bowling (He almost always hits a strike).
Think about it. When was the last time dream sequences worked in a movie? The Big Lebowski. That's when. The Coens' direction is as pleasing to the eyes as it embodies silliness and absolute laziness. For God's sake, this movie starts out with a tumbleweed rolling through a beach! If that's not hilariously lazy, then what is?

The script is awesomely pieced together. A perfect balance of humor and crime story, and this film has something most comedies don't: You actually have to think while watching it. That adds a whole other level of depth to the story and almost emphasizes the funnier scenes.
The pacing is also great, like in every Coens film. It takes you completely by surprise how immersive the story can actually be, and then it hits you with a great ending.

This is a movie that is filled with everything to love in a comedy. Great comical characters and acting, an airtight script, belly-laugh moments of comedy, and it overall encourages me to say: Fu*k it man. Let's go bowling.
It's a brilliant cult classic filled with great music, laughs and the Coen Brothers' style all over it.
