Before Sunrise

The beauty of realism.

Richard Linklater is a very adaptive filmmaker. He knows what the to give a script and the direction, even a particular scene. The few films of his that I've seen always give me pleasure and leave me fascinated by the end. Before Sunrise is no exception.

I don't think watching two people talking for an entire movie has ever been this interesting.
The overall screenplay and dialogue are fantastic in so many ways, especially in the creation of the slowly building love between two ordinary people who met by chance. It may sound familiar, but it is constructed in such a way that you can't help but appreciate it.

Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy are equally fantastic, and these two roles truly let their talent shine.
Watching this entirely fictional relationship is one of the most entertaining things I have ever seen in a movie.
In my Before Midnight review I mentioned the authenticity and originality of the couple, and I still stand by that in this film.
There is a shot that goes on for around a minute of them in a listening booth trying to avoid eye contact and awkward moments. That's exactly what makes them human.

So many recurring motifs of fading life throughout the film. Talk about old people resenting each other, the nonexistence of eternal love, the cynical feelings we all mask are beautifully hinted at through dialogue and pure atmosphere.

This is the romantic comedy I want. This is a true must-see for aficionados of the love and romance genre, because it is grounded, honest and symbolic, and shouldn't every human correlation be like that; real or fictional?
