'The Blob' remake works as a better produced and directed update, while never letting go of what made the original a nostalgic treat. Like it's counterpart, this new Blob is a product of it's time. Everything I shamelessly enjoy about 80's B-movie cinema is captured just right. There's even some sly jabs at the slasher genre. Though, this remake is most notable for it's awesome practical effects. The Blob creature is completely believable on-screen this time around and the film does leans toward horror, with more chases and tense situations. One of the few remakes I prefer over the original.
