A Christ film that is solely focused on one specific area of the story: from his capture by the Romans, to the crucifixion. The recreations of the time period, including attention to details such as language, are all appreciated from a filmmaking standpoint. It does create a believable world and situation. However, the situation at hand essentially amounts to two hours of continuous torture. I wasn't turned off by the violence. I only wanted more than just that. I found the whole experience to be plodding and dour.
