The main character is selfish, rude and flawed on a mental and emotional level, but still somewhat likable. I wanted her to succeed, even though I did enjoy many of her hilarious wrong choices. The tone of the film is hard to capture, as it has stinging comedy, damaged characters/relationships and raw emotional moments. I just love how completely un-conventional this film is written. The fact that there is no 'happy ending', or 'character arc' makes this movie more unique and entertaining. However, the thing that makes 'Young Adult' most enjoyable is the comedy and the great performances from Theron and Oswalt.
