A Mixed, If Not Unnecessary Revisit

A 'quasi-sequel' to Solondz's 'Happiness' (which I consider his best). Here we have completely different actors playing the returning characters and the result is slightly confusing. The writer/director's signature uncompromising dialogue and black humor are still present and provide the single entertaining parts of the film. The main theme of forgiving vs. forgetting is repetitive and the characters never seem to decide between the two. This film feels both interesting and incomplete, at the same time. Still, I find myself liking it for all of these reasons.
