Not knowing the true story beforehand, I cannot say whether parts of this film are dramatized. But, to me, the portrayal of this real-life situation felt completely humanized. Oscar Grant is not presented as the complete good guy. For all of his well intentions, he still has his own troubles. This makes the proceedings more believable. Especially when you add in the excellent acting from Michael B. Jordan. His presence adds a significant weight to the film that ends in a swell of emotions. Some will view this under a completely tragic light, but I came away more angry at how poorly the final confrontation was handled by all of the police officers.
