Solid drama dealing with an interracial relationship. The race card is played in a predicable manner for 60's cinema. It treads the issue lightly with some great dialogue that clearly defines the multiple viewpoints on the situation, but the outcome is one of typical hollywood fashion. I can't really blame the film for the time in which it was made. There's still a level of sophistication and understanding that comes through in the terrific performances. I just wish the material wasn't handled so 'safely'.
