'Monsters University' is a mundane prequel to 'Monsters Inc'. The story is predictable and there is a severe lack in humor. It follows the college movie tropes to a fault. Much opportunity is missed. The personalities and creative designs of the new characters offsets some of that. The finale does offer a slight turn in plot. It's just average to the core.
