Endless Debauchery

'The Wolf of Wall Street' is the most audaciously 'adult' centric film of the year. Scorsese delivers terrific directing, as always, which immerses you in the moment with the characters on screen. However, my time spent with these characters became monotonous with progression. There's flair and flash to these despicable people that makes it entertaining to watch their foul exploits, but the constant barrage of explicit sex and drug use, in LITERALLY every other scene (not kidding), does grow tiresome through the unnecessary three hour runtime. The final act drags due to the excess amount of points where the film could've just ended. This wouldn't have bothered me so much if I was not already worn down by the endless debauchery that precedes in the first two hours. Repetition kills some of the affection that I have for this film. That said, the scenes I did enjoy were immensely entertaining and surprisingly hysterical. I still give it a high recommendation, but with caution. This may be a better rental for the added option of skipping the unneeded scenes.
